In regards to letters on infringement

I hope it is Ok in English since my swedish is not very good.
I have received a letter from Ramberg advokat explaining me that my internet subscription was use to download copyright protected material, in this case two tv episodes. They include the IP, the case where telia was forced to give them my information and the time where these two episodes were in theory shared.
They offer to close the case if I pay 5000 sek.
I have tried to writte to them to ask for more information (including if they could translate the letter) but I have only received an automaticaly generated email back.. which does not feel very good.
In one way I feel that I should pay just to avoid the lose of time or more problems in the future, but in the other it feels just wrong to pay money just because some body sends you a letter demanding it.
Do you have any advice?

To clarify, you have nothing to be afraid of. As of recent years, law firms who claim to represent copyright holders have been sending letters in masses about copyright infringement, demanding high damages whilst threatening to take cases to court if one does not pay. This is an international phenomenon that occurred a while back, and has unfortunately resurfaced as of late.
The law firms use these letters as a method of "scaring" people into paying the fee they demand. These fees are often much higher than what a lawful compensation for a copyright infringement would be, much like in your case. Furthermore, these firms never actually proceed with any lawsuit. In any case, a Swedish court would never value the damages as highly as 5000 SEK.
My initial recommendation to you would be to send a letter of dispute. Since they don't seem to answer you, I simply advice you to ignore them. They will not follow up on their threats. Do nothing.
