I have borrowed money on behalf of someone else, what can I do?

Hello. Good eve. I would like to ask some advice regarding bank loans. A friend of mine used me to loan from banks and promised me to pay them but she never did until it came to kronofogden. Now i get only less than half of my salary monthly because i am forced to pay it. What can I do? And also this supposedly friend of mine borrowed a lot of money from me, almost all of my salary i had been working for the past 15mos. I do not think she has assets here in Sweden but she has some in the Philippines. I hope you can help me. Thank you very much.

Hello and thank you for your question!

As you have entered an agreement with the bank when you borrowed the money from the bank, you are solely responsible for the loan. It is never a good idea to apply for loans on behalf of someone else, as the borrower (and not the other person) is bound by the agreement with the bank.

Nevertheless, you and your friend made an oral agreement that she would compensate you for the loans. The problem with oral agreements is that they are very difficult - if not impossible - to prove. Unless you have any proof of the agreement, I'm afraid that there is very little hope of claiming the money back.
