Working permit: do you have to leave the country waiting for the application?

Hello

Greetings,

I'm on visit visa in Sweden and i want to know about the laws related to jobs , i might get a job offer in some company and i have few days left in my visa. Can i stay here if i get the offer or the process will take more time and have to leave to my country and wait ?Please let me know as i have very short time. Thank You

Hi and thank you for your question!

The rule is that you have to apply for working permit before you come to Sweden. However, there are exceptions. If you have a visa because you are to visit a potential employer, you can apply for working permit even if you have not applied it before coming to Sweden (see Utlänningslagen 5:18, here).

Unfortunately, my guess is that you have to return and wait for the working permit application to be evaluated. I would recommend calling Migrationsverket (here) asap to get it fully checked.
