Relevant law on inheritance?

Hej, I have a question in English, but you can answer me in Swedish. Do you know wich law concerning heritance is used in case a foreigner has a property in Sweden( a house) but lives somewhere else?I'm from Holland. Does the law from Holland concern also this swedish property? If you don't know an answer, who can I go to in Sweden?

Lawline svarar

Dear Sir or Madam, According to ”lag (1937:81) om internationella rättsförhållanden rörande dödsbo” chapter 1 § 1 the law of the state of which the deceased is a citizen is applicable to the issue of inheritance. The law of Holland is therefore applicabel in case the deceased was a dutch citizen. The relevant law in Holland would be the Burgerlijk Wetboek (or BW) book 4. Best regards,
